Senior Engineer - Broadcast Operations

The Senior Engineer has responsibility to operate and maintain a range of broadcast and communication systems and networks to deliver customer services, providing technical and operational guidance and leadership within the operating team.

To operate and maintain a range of broadcast and communication systems and networks to deliver customer services, providing technical and operational guidance and leadership within the operating team.

Key Responsibilities

•Possess an in depth knowledge of satellite and microwave link systems and understand link budget and associated technical aspects of the role. Utilise this knowledge to inform others within Arqiva who rely upon our technical input to their role.
•Compile test procedures for antenna systems as well as testing processes for new technologies within the group
•Carry out a program of preventative and corrective measures on a wide variety of satellite and microwave antenna systems across the UK to the satisfaction of our customers and processes.
•To supervise support staff – internal and contract engineers and others as necessary
•Ensure an emergency call out rota is maintained within your region or supported as part of a national system and to take part in such a rota as required.
•Ensure that we have sufficient spares available for our antenna infrastructure and that the spares are appropriately managed within your region
•Support and mentor others within the group such as engineers and technicians.
•To supervise support staff – internal and contract engineers and others as necessary

The technology, services or products this role will support are -
•Broadcast Satellite Downlink networks eg DAB and TV programme feeds
•Vsat Telemetry systems for Arqiva and External customers. A knowledge of iDirect systems is desirable
•Arqiva and customer owned Microwave Link networks

Key Skills Required
•HND/HNC level in an engineering discipline or able to demonstrate knowledge at an equivalent level.
•Appropriate climbing qualifications to fulfil the role
•It will be necessary each year to pass a medical to substantiate fitness to climb
•Extensive travel, in excess of 100 nights per year
•Flexible working
•On Call
