This is a rare opportunity for a proven sales specialist with a background in chemicals manufacturing to join the Senior Leadership team of a well-established privately owned market leading SME. The company manufactures high quality speciality additives, dispersions and emulsions for leading chemical and industrial groups. It has a strong reputation for innovation and its ability to provide customer solutions in demanding markets. It covers a broad geography including the UK, Europe, India, North and South America. It is very profitable, financially sound and built on solid foundations, is committed to new product and applications development and is supported by high calibre technical resource. The selling process is primarily direct to end users with supply contracts varying in scale up to £1milion in value and to a lesser extent products are sold are sold through 3rd party agents. Following significant profitable growth, the need has arisen to appoint a Sales Director who will take responsibility for driving sales both personally and through the leadership of a small team, developing new applications and taking products from concept to commercialisation whilst also achieving an agreed sales plan for the company. The role will be based at the company’s head office in West Yorkshire, there will be significant elements of international travel and you will enjoy the scope to make a difference that this role offers. The client is looking to make this a long term appointment. Graduate qualified in chemistry, polymer or materials science you will be a sales professional on an upward curve in your career and looking for a long term opportunity such as this. Your early training must have been in a significant chemicals manufacturing organisation and you will have progressed through product development into sales. It is imperative that you can demonstrate proof of success in bringing new products to market for a chemicals manufacturer whilst also growing existing accounts and winning new business. You will have a passion for selling, enjoy the hands-on customer interface expected as the norm in an SME and bring a deep knowledge of the product development process in speciality chemicals manufacturing. With regard to specific areas of interest, speciality chemicals, polymers, additives, specialist coatings, advanced materials or dispersions are all relevant and potentially interesting to our client. You will be a strong leader and motivator and relish the prospect of a long-term career at Board level.
