Depot Rail Ltd was founded in 2001 and is a specialist supplier of equipment for railway maintenance depots, manufacturing facilities and freight terminals. Our product range includes rail vehicle lifting jacks, shunting equipment, train servicing facilities and handling equipment for train maintenance.

As a home-based Field Service Technician, you’ll undertake service, maintenance, repair and installation work on equipment supplied by Depot Rail and similar third party products. You’ll normally do this at customers’ premises, travelling at short notice when urgent assistance is requested. The Field Service Technician role will involve ensuring all work is carried out correctly and safely and that equipment is returned to the customer in a safe-to-use condition. You will be responsible for your own work and for the completion of necessary paperwork associated with that work.

Applicants for the role of Field Service Technician must be qualified up to at least NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Electronic engineering and ideally to Level 4. Possession of the 17th Edition wiring qualification is also desirable. Applicants must also be able to demonstrate extensive experience of the maintenance and repair of complex equipment that combines electrical systems, electronic systems, hydraulic systems and pneumatic systems. Good mechanical repair skills are also essential.

A key part of this role is to be able to fault find on complex equipment, and applicants should be able to demonstrate that they have relevant experience in this field.

Good communication skills are a requirement for this position, both within the Depot Rail team and with customers. This extends to written communication skills as the applicant will also be required to complete and submit written reports and communicate clearly when describing faults to other personnel during the fault finding process.
