Your purpose (in a nutshell)

To lead and support the structuring and negotiation of a range of major technology based outsourcing deals from requirements definition through to drafting of commercial frameworks and post signature Vendor Management. To identify and implement measures to continually improve commercial practices within IT and the wider IPF business.

You will be accountable for:

• Develop and delivery of agreed Sourcing Category Strategies and strategic projects.
• Manage the vendor review cycle including value realisation and where necessary dispute resolution
• Create, review and publish commercial frameworks in support of outsource arrangements
• Negotiate proposal structures including financial impact assessment and modelling.
• Work closely with UK and overseas colleagues and third parties to ensure that the Commercial Management processes are fully understood and embedded
• Provide strategic and expert Commercial Management advice for any relevant working groups.
• Collate, consolidate and publish detailed outsource requirements including where necessary business case formation and justification
• Collate and publish RFI/RFP and manage the supplier response timetable.
• Publish vendor scoring matrices and produce and deliver executive briefing notes in respect of recommendations
• Comply with contract management policies in terms of storage, review, audit and governance.
• Ensure that principles of continuous service improvement are embedded within Commercial Management practices
• Adopt and apply internal Project Management governance principles to the procurement lifecycle.
• Assess and manage commercial risk associated with IT outsource arrangements.
• Assist with and respond to internal and external audits
• Create and distribute relevant Commercial Management related reports and documents
• Develop and embed a customer-focussed approach to the delivery of Commercial Management practices and oversee the regular measurement of customer satisfaction
• Build and maintain strong links with all IPF business functions and develop a culture of cooperation and collaboration with the Commercial Management processes and the IT team
• To develop appropriate relationships with all IT Service Managers both in the UK and overseas and ensure that the Commercial Management processes are supporting all other IT Service processes
• Ensure markets have a clear say in contracts design for deliverables that materially impact them
• Provide input into Group IT Annual budget planning process Opex and Capex
• Financial modelling of commercial activities to maximise business opportunity and value realisation
• Demonstrate appropriate management behaviours and provide clear leadership and guidance to staff, colleagues and customers of the IT Procurement process.
• Consider and where appropriate develop succession plans. Provide mentoring and professional development advice to the wider global IPF business as appropriate
• Manage multiple stakeholders across multiple markets in an effective, goal orientated way
• Ensure that ‘Best Practice’ Commercial Management processes are developed, documented, published and embedded and that internal policy and governance is followed


Requirements of the Role

Qualifications:
• Degree or other similar level education ideally technology related degree
• ITIL Foundation Certificate (version 3) preferred
• Project Management accreditation (Prince II) preferred
• Legal qualification preferred
• MCIPS or IACCM accreditation preferred


Knowledge:

• Contract formation and management (demonstrable knowledge of commercial frameworks including SLA formation)
• Basic accounting and tax knowledge (sufficient to evaluate financial merits of supplier proposals)
• Basic awareness of legal implication in respect of commercial management in respect of technology services
• Strong awareness of the technology services industry and key sources of information in respect of industry trends and benchmarks
• The appropriate level of knowledge to enable the job holder to effectively undertake the key accountabilities of this role
• Vendor management and value chain realisation
• Knowledge of performance coaching techniques that can be used to improve individual and team performance – including knowledge of team coaching
• Knowledge of people development – i.e. being able to identify development needs for team members and ensuring that development solutions are implemented to address these

Experience:

• A proven track record of successful delivery of technology procurement and service projects
• The technology service sourcing lifecycle (including supplier selection, tender management and contract negotiation).
• Vendor Management and contract value realisation
• Senior management level presentation


Other:

• Frequent international travel is a pre-requisite
