Your purpose (in a nutshell)

To report the Group’s funding, liquidity, counterparty and currency positions against Board approved Treasury policies. You will be responsible for the Budget/Rolling Forecast preparation and will liaise closely with the Treasury Executive and Treasury Manager on all Treasury related matters. You will also be responsible for all Treasury related journals including disclosure notes for the year end results. You will be expected to liaise with the Treasury Accountant on all Treasury related accounting entries and improve processes where appropriate. You will have exposure to all markets and liaise with UK Finance, Group Accounting, Group Tax and Group FP&A.

What you will be required to deliver in your role:

Accounting
• preparing treasury related journals for half year and full year reporting
• preparing treasury related disclosures for half year and full year reporting
• preparation of the monthly weighted average interest cost of funding
• calculation and distribution of the blended rate
• preparing and maintaining all hedge accounting documentation
• coordinating accounting queries from both the markets and head office functions
• managing internal and external audit queries
• Improve and develop the process associated with Treasury accounting and liaise with the Treasury Accountant to ensure full visibility and accuracy of Treasury data.
• Assisting the Treasury Manger in the review and analysis of UK statutory accounts

Budgeting
• Preparing the treasury budget inputs which will include borrowings, interest costs, hedging costs and confirmation of expected borrowings levels in each market coupled with expected dividend and capital injections.
• Preparing the treasury rolling forecast inputs which include borrowings, interest costs and hedging costs.
• Preparing Treasury inputs related to scenario and sensitivity analysis.

Reporting
• Develop, implement and manage the system and processes around the interest and borrowing forecasts. This will include variance analysis (budget v actual), scenario analysis and model development.
• Support the Treasury Executive in the preparation of the monthly Treasury Committee management information and update the Hedging Model reflecting proposals in line with Treasury policies.
• Preparing, reviewing and analysing the monthly interest report to the Group Treasurer and CFO.
• Continuous process improvements to existing reports and controls

Systems & Controls
• Managing the HSBCnet (electronic banking system) as the junior administrator. You will be responsible for all amendments and limits set in the system and will prepare reports detailing authorised signatory amendments to the CFO and Treasurer.
• Develop and manage integration of Treasury information systems including Bloomberg and GTreasury to ensure greater efficiency and reduce cost.

Funding
• Assisting the Treasury Manager on debt funding work including EMTN and Bank facilities
• Work with the Treasury Manager to produce the Fitch Information Memorandum
• Supporting the Treasury Manager on ISDA negotiations with existing and new counterparties
• Supporting other projects requiring treasury inputs including Tax, new markets, M&A work, internal governance & Board reporting.

Tax
• Ensuring all the intercompany documentation and all correspondence with markets are up to date
• Monitoring the use of overseas UK bank facilities which could give rise to WHT and ensure appropriate information is given to the Tax team

Website
• Update the Debt Information page on the IPF external website and ensure it is accurate.


Requirements of the Role

Qualifications:

• Educated to degree level with a professional Treasury qualification or accountancy qualification preferred

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels, both internally (in the UK and internationally) and externally.
• Numerate with strong analytical and IT skills.
• Highly organised, methodical and meticulous.
• Advanced in MS office suite particularly Excel.

Knowledge:

• Treasury knowledge in a corporate environment preferable with good knowledge of Treasury related accounting matters

Experience:

• Part/full AMCT or full/part-qualified accountant with Treasury experience preferred
