Your purpose (in a nutshell)

You will be responsible for consolidating financial information from across the Group and using this to prepare monthly management information and quarterly statutory information for external reporting purposes ensuring that all output is high quality, robust and in compliance with applicable accounting standards. You will also lead the analysis of financial performance, particularly with regards to costs, and highlight opportunities to the business.

What you will be required to deliver in your role
• In order to achieve this you will be responsible for:
• The preparation of consolidated management information and supporting reporting to the board on a monthly basis
• Providing a robust review of monthly reporting submissions from subsidiaries, including cost performance
• Owning the cost reporting system and working with overseas finance teams to produce high quality cost reporting analysis, along with managing changes required to the system
• Supporting the analysis of revenue and impairment trends across the Group, providing support to market teams and highlighting potential areas of concern in performance
• Owning the statutory consolidation prepared on a monthly basis, along with supporting analysis
• Working with the Group tax team to agree the consolidated tax journals
• The preparation of IFRS Group financial statements, to include working as part of the team responsible for the overall publication of the financial statements (including investor relations and company secretarial)
• The preparation of interim financial information for external reporting purposes
• Assisting the investor relations team in the preparation of analyst presentations
• Assisting the Group treasury team to support funding requirements
• Keeping up to date with key accounting developments ensuring they are appropriately disclosed in the Group
financial statements
• Providing assistance to subsidiary finance teams on technical accounting matters
• Working with external auditors throughout the year to ensure appropriate accounting policies are being applied and delivering a clean audit opinion as a result
• Ensuring the Financial Reporting team’s compliance with the Group’s control framework
• Managing internal and external stakeholders ensuring that output matches their requirements and expectations



Requirements of the Role

Qualifications:

• Full professional accountancy qualification

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels, both internally and externally
• Ability to manage workload effectively to ensure that tight deadlines are achieved
• Ability to analyse information to make correct inferences and decisions
• Ability to prepare reports and recommendations and communicate these to senior management and directors
• Ability to present complicated information and analysis in a non-technical manner
• Numerate with strong analytical skills
• Ability and willingness to develop self
• Flexibility

Knowledge:

• Excellent knowledge of recent accounting developments (IFRS and UK GAAP)
• Understanding of financial controls and related systems
• Excellent written, verbal and spoken English

Experience:

• Qualified accountant with experience of working with IFRS and UK GAAP
• Experience of communicating at all levels
