What is the role?

We have a new exciting opportunity to join our creative, forward thinking and progressive Marketing department.

As Events Marketing Manager you will be responsible for developing a calendar of events throughout the year. This exciting new role will focus on match days and non-match day events. For match days your focus will be to surprise and delight fans by improving the overall match day experience to be ‘best in class’ and to focus on building our retail and regional brand. For non-match day you will champion and manage the Southampton FC brand through events, personifying “The Southampton Way” and driving fan affinity.

You will work closely with the Head of Marketing and our Sponsorship, Retail, Media, Hospitality and Ticketing departments to ensure sales opportunities are maximised and marketing/events is integrated.

What are we looking for?

We are looking for candidates with experience working within a high profile marketing/events department with exposure to and awareness of marketing, branding and media relations. You will need to be a candidate who thinks and performs commercially and is able to operate and be accountable for multiple projects across departments.

You must be someone who can deliver multiple tasks within required deadlines and be a strong relationship manager with internal stakeholders.

The competencies which are required include:


• Experience of working effectively in a high profile marketing/events department with exposure to a variety of events.

• Experience operating at Events Marketing Manager level driving, challenging, delivering and being accountable for multiple projects across departments.

• Experience in creating and delivering promotional events.

• Experience in major sports or football would be advantageous.

Qualifications (incl. certifications):

• Ideally educated to degree standard.


• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Think and perform commercially, negotiate effectively whilst ensuring the quality of the end product,

• Deliver original, inspirational and quality work.

• Excellent attention to detail.

• A successful track record of delivering results in line with budgets.

• Exceptional event management skills.

• Ability to think strategically and plan tactfully.

• Influential communication skills, with the ability to interface effectively with various personalities at various levels within the Company.

• Hands-on approach and proven experience of managing and motivating a team.

• A passion and willingness to exceed expectations.

• Proactive and dynamic.

• Must be prepared to travel.
