Senior Engineer- Broadcast Operations

Role Purpose

To operate and maintain a range of broadcast and communication systems and networks to deliver customer services, providing technical and operational guidance and leadership within the operating team.

Key Responsibilities

•Provide a point of contact for technical enquiries, escalate to Principle Engineer/Team Leader if required
•Evaluate, diagnose, repair and configure electronic and mechanical broadcast/telecommunication equipment
•Ensuring the quality of works from internal and external repairs meet equipment specification and or customer expectations
•Lead and or contribute to technical investigations to identify problems with equipment performance. Review trend analysis and recommend solutions to Principal Engineer and Team Leader.
•Provide technical support for business cases; reflect on capabilities, required skill set, forecast costs associated with resource and materials. Recommend spares holding. Think outside the box
•Be aware of technical developments, modern techniques and test equipment. Take a pro-active involvement with the arrival of new equipment for the repair centre.
•Develop test bed and engineering jigs to improve repair efficiencies. and oversee modifications and calibration
•Support the prioritisation and allocation of work to ensure a high level of service is maintained. Monitor returns and ensure action plans are in place to remedy any issues
•Ensure accurate records and details are maintained within the department
•Help focus the team towards delivering excellent service; strive to meet and or exceed customer expectations
•Attend service review / engineer liaison meetings, where appropriate lead technical discussion, provide and present information
•As required, participate in the on-call 24/7 arrangements
•Self manage and monitor teams performance against agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)
•Maintain regular communication with line manager on workload and escalate issues as they arise
•Identify training and development that may benefit you and your team, to increase efficiencies and or improve service
•Encourage continuous improvement, identify, review and where possible manage opportunities to improve service, process or systems
•Support problem management; apply root cause analysis and where possible implement corrective actions to avoid repeat incidents
•Deputise for Team Leader, leading the technical team, on a temporary basis when required.
•Provide managerial support and guidance to maximize the technical team’s potential
•As requested, carry out ancillary tasks deemed within your capability
•Promote an effective Safety, Health and Environment culture, to ensure a safe and healthy working environment within area of operation
•Maintain a secure working environment in line with the requirements of the Arqiva Security Policy in order to protect individuals, information and Arqiva assets


Experience/Background Required

Computer literacy is a must
Networking knowledge and skills
Digital Broadcasting techniques both audio and visual.
5+ years in similar role
HND or equivalent in electronics or engineering related subject
Willingness to learn
