Competitive salary + comprehensive benefits

Taylor Hobson, part of Ametek Ultra Precision Technologies Division, is a dynamic organisation having developed the fastest, most accurate measurement platforms recently. These are used to qualify the latest 4K and 8K ultra HD TV broadcast lenses and the new generation optics for “smart illumination” & autonomous vehicles. We provide solutions to the most demanding volume production requirements for powertrain (including F1), aero-engine & optics (smart phone & imaging) with the infrastructure to support our clients globally.

We are looking for a key individual with a strong interest in technology and the desire to provide solutions to global brands, to join our specials team as Senior Mechanical Engineer. Right now, you will likely be a mechanical engineer/Senior Mechanical Engineer with an excellent demonstrable track record coupled with a growing ambition to drive and run multi-discipline teams and take on bigger challenges.

Our role as senior mechanical engineer, requires “end to end” solutions, from concept to delivery:
• Working with customers directly to capture the specification; travel will be expected so you can see exactly what is needed especially on the larger projects
• Integrating and expanding our existing technology portfolio
• Working with multi-discipline teams including, software, electronics, systems, supply chain, production and service installation engineers to design, make then commission the solution.

But... this is a big ask for a mechanical engineer likely only 4-5 years out of university. So, in the spirit of one of our founders, William Taylor, whose mantra was to find “intelligent youth and train it”, we have tailored a programme where you will evolve from leading design on smaller self-contained projects to leading larger, more complex, multidiscipline programmes. This is underpinned by the necessary training you will need both on the job and with off-site training.

This is a fast-track programme enabling the Senior Mechanical Engineer to attain Principal Engineer grade within 18-24 months.

Key Requirements:
• A good degree level in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• Demonstrable track record of solution delivery with mechanical systems reflecting materials, structure, precision and performance; underpinned with excellent communication skills
• Competent skills with CAD, NX8.5 (or later) & TeamCenter and/or Solidworks & EPDM
