What is the role?

We have an exciting opportunity to join Southampton Football Club in the new role of Senior Sales Manager. This role will focus on match day and non-match day events, ensuring a smooth customer sales journey, that has the customer at the centre of everything we do. You will be responsible for managing the CRM system to maximise sales opportunities and identify areas to win new business. A key focus of this role will be to ensure the sales team is structured, coached, incentivised and motivated, with a competitive edge; ensuring we maximise the profitability of the stadium on both match and non match days.

What are we looking for?

The ideal candidate will be able to achieve sales growth, with a strong understanding of setting and monitoring ambitious sales targets and strategies.

You will be a people person – confident with networking and managing negotiations to ensure maximum client satisfaction while driving business growth. The successful candidate will also have the passion to lead the sales team, be excited to develop individuals, and seek new and innovative ways to attract new customers.

The competencies which are required include:

Essential Experience:
• Experience of setting successful sales strategies and meeting ambitious targets.
• Experience of managing a proactive sales team is essential.
• A track record of utilising CRM as the centre of the team – driving everything from data capture to out bound calls.
• An experienced and skilled negotiators – and a track record upskilling others.
• Creating exciting environments with incentive structures that excite team members.
• A people person with high engagement scores.
• Comfortable at taking data and insight to create either new ways of working or new products and bringing them to market.

Desirable Experience:
• Experience within the hospitality or sporting environment.
• Evidence of step changing sales teams performance.
• Evidence of producing incentives for teams and bonus structures.
• Evolving and accelerating new ideas into reality.
• Essential Qualifications (including certifications):
• GCSE A*-C or equivalent.
• Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
• Desirable Qualifications (including certifications):
• Negotiation qualification
• Leadership or Management qualification.

Essential Skills:
• Organised and a planner.
• Strong leadership skills.
• A motivator who leads by example.
• Exceptional communication skills, both on the phone and face to face.
• Must be pro-active with their sales approach, self-motivated and driven to meet targets.
• A common sense approach to match clients’ requirements with the relevant product.
• Understanding of setting budgets, commission structures and financial forecasting/planning.
• Efficient and organised with excellent time management skills, working to tight deadlines.
• Flexible to the requirements of the job, including working hours and areas of focus.
• Candidates must hold a full, clean driving licence.
