The I&G team has recently joined Sewell Group, a regional Hull-based family organisation founded in 1876. Sewell is a multi-disciplined Group working across Construction, Facilities Management, Investment and Retail sectors, and pride themselves in being a great company to work for, and a Sunday Times Top 10 organisation.
I&G is a sister company to Sewell Construction, and is provided with central support services. As a result Sewell will manage the recruitment and selection process in conjunction with I&G, and the final candidate will be employed with I&G, not directly with Sewell.

Role Overview:
Working with both private and public sector clients, management, and the wider I&G and Sewell family, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to showcase their ability to multitask across every environment.

The intermediate QS will be involved in all commercial activities of projects within their remits, and will have a keen interest in developing their role further into contract management quantity surveying.

As the role developed the successful candidate will be involved in actively meeting the challenges that come with being a key player in the success of cultivating business relationships.

On a day to day basis, the successful candidate will;
• Support the coordination of subcontractors alongside the construction team to meet contractual conditions of performance.
• Review and support the coordination staff levels to ensure the smooth delivery of construction projects and meet budget requirements.
• Support the wider team with the preparation or external and internal reports.
• Procure materials including hire and all other associated requirements for the delivery of the construction projects.
• Review projects alongside the management team on a daily basis to ensure quality construction standards exist and estimates remain within budget.
• Communicate and coordinate with the Site Management team to ensure projects are completed on time and exceed the customer’s requirements.
• Work under deadlines in a fast-paced environment to plan and coordinate all aspects of the building process from hiring contractors to working with the client and their project team.

Skills and Attributes
As well as fitting into the I&G family culture, the successful candidate will have the following;
Essential skills:
• Hold a full driving licence, valid in the UK.
• Hold or be working towards a degree in building science, quantity surveying, construction management, or associated recognised qualification relevant to the role.
• Be able to demonstrate previous experience suitable to this commercial role
• Have a keen interest to further develop their career to include construction and contract management
• Hold excellent communication, organisation and time management skills
• A positive and professional attitude.
• Be advanced in the use of Microsoft packages including; Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word & Microsoft Outlook.
• Have a flexible outlook towards hours worked (some out of hours working may be required).

Alongside the above, further desirable skills for this position are:
• Have working knowledge of current Health and Safety practice.
• Previous knowledge working with public sector clients
• Previous experience working on health and or education projects
• Microsoft Project working knowledge
