The role
As the Legal Compliance Officer for Yopa, you will take charge of and carry out a wide remit of compliance activities. From Anti- Money laundering (AML) checking, overseeing and responding to any Subject Access Requests (SARs), all the way through to acting as the liaison between Yopa and the ICO if required. A real hands-on role, this requires someone who can think big but loves the detail. You’ll also be exposed to all the latest & greatest tech used and created by our engineering team, so being fluent and confident with technology is a must.

This is a great opportunity for a Legal Compliance Officer to join an ambitious, rapidly growing business. As a result, we are looking for a diligent and judicious individual to assist the company in protecting the company from risk.

Further to this, you will also be responsible for assisting our Head of Legal with any necessary documentation, so things such as NDAs, contracts etc will also fall into your lap.
This role is incredibly fast-paced and requires someone who excels with a lengthy to-do list, short deadlines and fine detail. The work won't wait, so you will need to be full of initiative to do well.


Core Duties and Responsibilities:
• Review the company's customers to assess KYC, AML and fraud risk
• Conduct ongoing transaction monitoring and escalate any concerns or flags
• Processing SARs and deletion requests that come into Yopa in an appropriate and timely manner
• Support the Head of Legal in developing and rolling out policies for risk and compliance (including in areas such as Data Protection)
• Review and support in generating and submitting legal documentation
• Supporting and acting as a council to the Head of Legal for key legal issues, challenges or necessary strategies



Skills & competencies:
• The ideal candidate will have relevant law firm and/or in-house experience as a paralegal or compliance administrator
• Legal qualifications desirable;
• 18 months experience in AML/Compliance monitoring a huge plus
• Accurate and pro-active self-starter;
• Demonstrate great attention for the finest of detail
• Willing to take responsibility
