Our client is a significant manufacturing business and part of a well-regarded international group. It has a turnover of c£60million with c400 colleagues and its processes include design, development, manufacturing, assembly, test and service aftermarket support for its precision engineered products and systems.  It supplies a global marketplace in sectors such as defence, oil and gas, rail and industrial to name some in which the demands for quality and fulfilment are renowned.

Our client would like to recruit a high-calibre Finance Director. Reporting to the UK Managing Director, this role requires a tenacious and proactive individual with a strong sense of drive and experience of system driven information and performance. As a Finance Director, you'll play a key role in overseeing and shaping the financial health of the company.

Your responsibilities will include delivering precise financial reports, projections, managing departmental budgets, and leading the UK finance team. Ensuring that stringent financial controls are maintained, guiding commercial and defence contract financial aspects, and fostering ties with essential entities like banks and auditors will be part of your mandate. Furthermore, promoting a positive work environment with a focus on growth and continuous improvement will be central to your role.

You will be a qualified Chartered Accountant with the ability to drive changes across the company, ensuring the adoption of updated processes and data. You will bring strong budgeting, analytical, and forecasting skills to guide the UK business strategies, pinpointing opportunities for profit development and cash generation. An excellent understanding of contract accounting, expertise in managing large customer projects, and experience in single sourcing are advantageous, ideally with a background in manufacturing. You should possess a flair for identifying continuous improvement opportunities, particularly in cost and cash control. Excellent communication skills are essential, as liaising with the Senior Management team and effectively representing the UK business to external stakeholders will be pivotal to the role.
